Smells like… Apple products!

I don’t know if you ever notice BUT, Apple products have such a particular smell when they are new… I love smell new books, food, well it’s a thing I have: I must smell everything.
And the stuff I like most are the ones that I keep smelling… *humf* *humf*

Well, today I received the WD Passport (250gb) and the Snow Leopard upgrade DVD (I have the Leopard DVD’s too). This was all Arnan’s fault! * (kiss sweet you rock :O eheh )

So here it is what I just got today! Fasten your seat belts!

Oh well, now you are thinking “another ipod… what’s the big deal?” the fact is opening this shuffle was a new sensation! The instructions book is actually a card! How cute is this?

And of course the cable is different! It comes with a real dock with Apple logo at the bottom and rubber /me loved it

Last but not least, the WD passport to make the backup and for the first time I used “time machine” :O waw… I thought I would never be able to backup nothing! But, it was just connecting the cable and let the thing flow. It was 64gb of data to transfer (or to lost :O )
It’s so quiet…

Tinker the bells *plimmmm* Snowy! (aka snow Leopard)

At this time I haven’t upgrade. Preview - Instant Alpha

Hey all,
Today I needed to delete a background from an image! Well, Photoshop does it, GIMP does it, lots of apps will do it in perfect conditions!
However I was with the image opened in Preview (that awesome application!!) , so I erased the background simple and fast with Preview!

So as you can see you click like for 2 seconds in the arrow and appears a sweet tool called “Instant Alpha”! The only thing you need to do after select it, is click in the area you want to delete and make disappear from you image!

After clicking the area turns red (I guess) and you just click on “return” key. It automatically makes what you wanted: erase the area
Now you just need to save or save as, as you prefer!

Core Image Fun House

Now you are thinking, “what the hell is Core Image Fun House?!”

Well, Core Image Fun House I discovered by a case! Dunno why, a picture I wanted to see opened automatically with Photoshop, so I right clicked it to open with Preview. Suddently, appeared “Core Image Fun House”…. mmmm… “let me try”
A new world came out to me!

To use this tool you need to get the Developer Tools (if you don’t have the DVD with Leopard, they are free of charge).
Then, just open the picture you want and play, enjoy, and go wild!
Core Image Fun House allows you to save as Fun House so it comes with an XML file
Lots of effects, and as we are used to: EASY TO USE & INTUITIVE

How to make Dashboard widgets?

Well, it’s simple and I’ll tell you step by step how to do them!
I know lots of mac users don’t know the “Developer Center” http://developer.apple.com . You can develope all Mac apps without being an “engineer”, or without knowing lots of stuff.
Little widgets like the one I’ll show you are easy to do, simple and very efective! And you can always say “i’m an Apple Developer” *cof cof*

Registering on Apple Dev it’s free, so you can create your account and download the Dashcode . This application allows you to create the widgets. However, it’s in Xcode! So you need Xcode that comes with Dashcode!

After you have all this apps installed and ready to use, open Dashcode

Now we are in conditions to choose one from the Template choser! We want to do a Birthdays countdown, so we need the “Countdown”:

So, we have the widget all cute and blue right on the middle of the work space! We need to edit it to do exactly what we want! And it’s really simple and easy! You can see the interface is very likely to all Apple apps, like Pages, or Preview, with the “Inspector” right on your side. So you must be confortable with Dashcode

If you double click on the “Event Label” you will see you can edit the text, and with Inspector, change the Font, Colour, etc.

At the sidebar you can see “Customize Countdown”, and there click on Countdown Properties. In the same moment you see the “Date & Time” field, so just put the date you want! If you choose 2/4/2009 is my next Birthday date
NOTE: Remeber the format is month/day/year

Now, you can “Run” your widget and see how nice it is working live
Pause it and let’s edit the colours with our old friend “Inspector”! You can put an image too! Easily

Just edit the widget with colours or images you like! It’s easy I believe you won’t have difficulties to do it!

You want to share it with your contacts and friends, so that they can remember your Bday?!
Ok let’s do that… but first let me make you a suggestion, when you are editing the colors/images put the image of the thing you want the people to give you as gift! Imagine you can put an iPhone and 3 or 5 from your friends give it to you
So go to “Test & Share”, only AFTER saving your project! Give a name to it and Save to Disk!
And you can put on your Dashboard too… “Deploy to Dashboard” .

New Macbooks > Amen!

Well, I was a bit apprehensive about this keynote.

After starting the video, and after all the rumors appointed to the new Macbooks on internet, I thought “well, it must be normal… ” … it’s not!
I’m Cat so I can say puuuuurrrrrfect :p
I loved the new models, the LED backlit display is surreal, I really like the visual effect of that! And I want to mention the trackpad! I always loved this trackpad because my PC friends always be admired when I say I don’t use mouse! I have an Apple designed trackpad, why should I use it? mmmm… I really don’t.
And the new one? I thought “well my english is not that good to transmite how amazed I feel about this!”, but talking with a portuguese friend, Carlos, the only word I could say was “WOW!” … Another reason why I’m in loved with my mac, and why I want one of these new aluminum sweet leopards

Oh! By the way, Steve looks gorgeous than ever … at least at my MacBook old screen And I always like when he wants to the audience to be fast, and they never are, and he thinks “c’mon I have a keynote to present!!” … and politely he says “c’mon” and people laugh… *oh steve is sooo funny*
But the price is not right… I need a sponsor to all my fantasies :p you know my mail…

Dictionary

I always loved Dictionary! Because always I have a doubt or something I want to know more about, I just type in spotlight (you can disable Dictionary from appearing in spotlight) the term I want, and instantly answers.
So, I was looking for “plum”, and I never realised I can see in wikipedia the nutrition facts about food! So, if you want to know if it’s good to digest at night, if has more vitamins and less energy; before getting in your stomach type it!!! It’s a nice advice coming from Dictionary… and you don’t need internet to do this, just a mac

Another reason why tomorrow I want to see whats going on in the keynote! To be jealous about people that are just waiting for this, to buy the new MacBook! @#@$%$^#&$^*
Oh eat plums, have lots of vitamins fresh fruit is healthy anyways.

The Bearcat

This is the “Bearcat”, the bear that’s actually a cat, and Arnan thought it was a bear.
I went to the post see what was the package and it was this beautiful nice and with a jasmine smell bearcat!
