Mac Environment
Hey folks,
Today I was with a bit of free time, so that I decided to customize my mac.
Yesterday I started using Adium 
Now I can mix all my IM contacts in one contact list and in one unique window everytime I chat with two or more contacts. This is nice, because with 13″ space is a real problem to deal with 
So I went to Adium Xtras site, and from there I’m just using the dock icon (pink Adium logo), and the status icons (hearts).
After doing this I thought it was so pink and so cute I decided to make some kind of theme 
First I changed the background to a Sakura tree (it’s hard to find a good wallpaper and i’m not sure about this one).
Second resolution was for the first time changing the folder icons (and from some applications too).
If you want to change a folder icon just open the Get Info from the folder you want to change and drag and drop the one you want in the icon you are using now (upper left corner). You can see the tip from Apple site.
The folders I’m using now are from Icon Factory They have some pink and “sakura” too, which matches perfectly with this theme.
And now what else? The Dock icons! Hell yeah… I never changed this icons :O I like the Macosx ones, they are very nice and I’ve been dealing with them everyday…
But at Pixel Girl I found a really nice, cute, flowery ones
At the end of the day, the result was…
Change Finder Background
Today I sent a print screen and someone asked me “hey your background is so cute! how did you do that?” Here is the answer…
First open a Finder window, you can do this in all your background folders too.
I have different backgrounds in some! For me, is nice because I choose a color label and the background inside the folder matching! Is so colorful
Ok, in the folder you want to change right click inside and “Show View Options”.
In there, you see “background” options!
You can paint with a color, or select a picture (the one i’m using on the screen shot).
There’s also another options in this menu! Actually, you can control de icons size, the space between them, or even show more info about the stuff you have on that folder.
Finally, it’s easy to browse a nice picture to colorize your boring folders
Preview - Instant Alpha
Hey all,
Today I needed to delete a background from an image! Well, Photoshop does it, GIMP does it, lots of apps will do it in perfect conditions!
However I was with the image opened in Preview (that awesome application!!) , so I erased the background simple and fast with Preview!
So as you can see you click like for 2 seconds in the arrow and appears a sweet tool called “Instant Alpha”! The only thing you need to do after select it, is click in the area you want to delete and make disappear from you image!
After clicking the area turns red (I guess) and you just click on “return” key. It automatically makes what you wanted: erase the area
Now you just need to save or save as, as you prefer!
iPhoto update
You can see a new update do iPhoto:
This update improves the printing quality of books, cards and calendars ordered via the iPhoto printing service.
What?! Am I reading this right?
>>> PORTUGAL <<< we can’t order the “books, cards and calendars” in a “normal” way, since Portugal is not listed in the country list…
Maybe I send the “books, cards and calendars” to my mansion in FL!
Apple should take care of our small country!
SAPO Messenger
Well, this application name is SAPO Messenger, in portuguese “sapo” means frog
So it’s funny, and it looks like iChat in some points.
In this screen shot of the app, you can see a thing I dislike in it. You can have all your Gmail accounts, and all your Sapo Mails, however it’s all mixed together!
And I don’t know if it’s good or bad, but, every time you open the app and start talking to someone you talked anytime ago, you are able to see the whole chat you had before!!
I don’t know, I think sometimes is usefull, but in other hand I don’t want to see alwayyyys that! :p
It’s strange!… and someone comes to talk or you talk with someone, and you can see what account you are using (which is good, for the mixed problem). But only if you open the window chat.
Well, I love iChat, but SAPO Messenger is portuguese, and I was looking for a free sms service it has. You can send free sms from your sapo mail account in sapo messenger.
I can say it’s nice…
Dictionary
I always loved Dictionary! Because always I have a doubt or something I want to know more about, I just type in spotlight (you can disable Dictionary from appearing in spotlight) the term I want, and instantly answers.
So, I was looking for “plum”, and I never realised I can see in wikipedia the nutrition facts about food! So, if you want to know if it’s good to digest at night, if has more vitamins and less energy; before getting in your stomach type it!!! It’s a nice advice coming from Dictionary… and you don’t need internet to do this, just a mac
Another reason why tomorrow I want to see whats going on in the keynote! To be jealous about people that are just waiting for this, to buy the new MacBook! @#@$%$^#&$^*
Oh eat plums, have lots of vitamins fresh fruit is healthy anyways.

Ok, after the little problem with the “Apple plastic” I’ll see what the support can do
I got the info that when you need to change the plastic, you always have to change the keyboard.

Plastic MacBook
What is this? Ok, apparently is a MacBook… and at the bottom something that happens so often that annoys every macnology fan. The plastic near the trackpad broken! How stupid could be if it happened after my warranty period…
Because I don’t have lots of time (maybe I have but I need to say I’m a busy person!) I don’t think I go to the Apple technician to ask for a new plastic. Another problem is my keyboard. It’s not european and it isn’t portuguese. I like it. I don’t want to change!
Can I live with this?? And the answer is…
I think I can, but I have warranty!!
I could put the Apple sticker, which is quite fashion on this little plastic problem…
Vodafone and iPhone
Ok, the list of the prices is all xxxx and yyyy! And in small letters we can read “videocall”!
And MMS?!
I need to wait to see whats going on in this Vodafone iPhone release.
I WANT NUMBERS, not just x and y’s… I don’t care about Coldplay.
If it’s this, I prefer nothing.
By the way the “price” appears 250 euros… it’s a good price for white, nice, sexy, and MINE iPhone…
